NEW LIB DEM CABINET PORTFOLIOS ANNOUNCED

PORTFOLIOS have been given to Bristol City Council’s newly-elected ruling cabinet.
Barbara Janke, whose Lib Dem group increased its majority on the council to six in last week’s local elections, has allocated new roles to the eight-member cabinet chosen at the group’s annual meeting.
Gary Hopkins becomes executive member for strategic transport, waste and targeted improvement.
Bev Knott is the cabinet member for neighbourhoods. Jon Rogers is the new executive member for care and health.
Clare Campion-Smith continues as executive member for children and young people; deputy council leader Simon Cook remains cabinet member for culture, sport, tourism and capital projects.
Mark Wright is the new cabinet member for efficiency and value for money.
Anthony Negus joins the cabinet as executive for strategic housing and regeneration.
Barbara Janke herself will continue to be in charge of the council’s budget, strategic economic development and the Green Capital agenda.
In addition, the 38-strong Lib Dem group on the council elected two assistant executives this week.
Neil Harrison continues with the sustainability portfolio, while Tim Kent will be supporting the administration’s neighbourhoods agenda.
