LIB DEMS NAME NEW COUNCIL CABINET

BRISTOL City Council’s ruling Liberal Democrats have chosen their new cabinet team to run the authority for the next year.
It follows last week’s local elections, in which the party secured two more seats (now 38 in all) and a majority of six.
As well as leader Barbara Janke and deputy leader Simon Cook, who were re-elected by the Lib Dem group on Saturday (8th), a further six councillors were elected tonight (Mon 10th) to complete the new cabinet.
At a meeting at the Council House - the second half of the group’s annual meeting - the following won cabinet places: Clare Campion-Smith, Gary Hopkins, Bev Knott, Anthony Negus, Jon Rogers and Mark Wright.
Portfolios will be allocated to cabinet members over the next day or two.
