Budget news: Investing in Communities and Culture

Liberal Democrats first budget amendment was passed last night.

This used £300K from the revised estimate of energy prices to fund the following:

£150K - Invest in a perpetrator's programme to reduce the incidence of domestic violence. Funding for domestic violence schemes.
£70K - Tenant Management Organisations: additional funding to allow increase in tenant decision making
£15K - Bristol Cultural Development Partnership: to match increased funding being provided by Arts Council England and GWE Business West.
£20K - Show of Strength Theatre Company: additional funding with the expectation that this could form the basis of a 3 year funding agreement.
£25K - Bristol Aircraft Corporation 100th anniversary celebrations 2010: contribution to be matched by South Glos, match-funding a substantial private sector donation.
£20K - Adult Learning Service: To seedcorn the development of new courses at new locations in the city to build and broaden the city's portfolio of 'leisure learning' opportunities.
